◊ Online Driver Safety Catalog Expanded ...

The National Safety Council (NSC) reports that each work-related motor vehicle accident fatality cost averaged $1,150,000 in 2004. An organization can take immediate action to mitigate this risk by offering online defensive driving training to its workforce. FirstNet Learning is pleased to announce the addition of several new and upgraded National Safety Council driver safety courses to its driver safety catalog of online training. The following courses are now included in our updated Driver Safety Catalog :

NSC Defensive Driving II (Audio) - is intended for both new and experienced drivers who want to increase driving awareness and accident prevention skills. This Internet-based program is founded on the 8-hour NSC classroom course that has helped over 1 million drivers drive more safely. Successful completion of these courses will earn the student an NSC Certificate that in some states can provide for a discount on auto insurance rates (contact your insurance provider for details).

NSC Defensive Driving (Audio) – Spanish Language - as described above, but translated into Spanish.

NSC Defensive Driving (Audio) – Short Version - English version as described above, but compressed to 1.5 hours.

NSC Professional Truck Driver (Audio) – Professional truck drivers have a tremendous responsibility for keeping the highways safe for others. The National Safety Council’s Professional Truck Driver Defensive Driving Course gives them the tools to carry out this responsibility. Since the course was first introduced in 1986, thousands of professional truck drivers have taken it and made a difference on our roads.

◊ FirstNet Learning's Health & Safety Courses Address Top OSHA Violations ...

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recently listed the most-violated OSHA standards thus far in 2005. The number of violations among the most-cited standards is 40,463, down 4,200 from last year, according to the agency. These citations were issued from October 1, 2004 through August 30, 2005.

FirstNet Learning offers online training courses that address these violations:

• Hazard Communication (1910.1200) with 6,641 violations. (FNL Hazard Communication Course)
• Fall Protection--General Requirements (1926.501) with 5,504 violations. (FNL Fall Protection Course)
• Respiratory Protection (1910.134) with 3,904 violations. This standard appeared fifth last year. (FNL Respiratory Protection)
• Lockout/Tagout (1910.147) with 3,711 violations. This standard moved from fourth last year. (FNL Lockout/Tagout)
• Powered Industrial Trucks (1910.178) with 2,871 violations. This standard rose from eighth on last year's list. (FNL Lift Truck Course)
• Machine Guarding--General Requirements (1910.212) with 2,743 violations, down from seventh on last year's list. (FNL Machine Guarding Course)
• Electrical--General Requirements (1910.303) with 2,120 violations. (FNL Electrical Safety Course)
• Ladders (1926.1053) with 2,054 violations. (FNL Ladder Safety)
