The Secret of Change: Values Alignment |
|

Can one really “dabble” with organizational change? Or is that like someone dabbling in morality with volunteering after work, but then having an affair? You get this point. Yes. Change is an all or nothing concept. If not, you get compliance not commitment to top-down transformation in BOTH belief and behavior. As one anonymous consultant mentioned:
“The moment there is genuine change in moral purpose, the organization transforms”
If you doubt this and you wonder if morale purpose and sustainable value change is linked to bottom line, then you are not alone. The majority of corporate executives are not so brave or visionary according to a recent study conducted by Campbell Harvey and John Graham of Fuqua and Shiva Rajgopal of the University of Washington. Asked if they would pursue a positive net value project if it meant missing the earnings-per-share estimate for the quarter, 59% of financial executives admit that they would kill the project. Equally troubling, 78% of executives admit they would forego real value in order to meet their earnings targets.
Are profit and values alignment really competitors? Yes and No. Yes if you seek mere techniques and short term solutions. No if you seek long term transformation. Don’t trust me? Check out the link between moral purpose and conviction, and what follows below…
