Editor's Choice at ASTD ICE 2010
Live Online Learning and Social Learning Solutions Head the Pack

More than 174 vendors attended May's ASTD ICE. While I wasn't able to see every product, a few trends are noteworthy.

First, there are more e-learning and virtual options available than ever before. We have officially moved in market lifecycle from innovator to early majority of e-learning adoptions. Only six months ago, corporations, state and federal agencies were "grounded" and unable to travel. Technology was ready to fill this gap with virtual classroom options, blended learning options and engaging e-learning.

Second, e-learning has moved from specialized vendors to broader learning suppliers. Traditional training organizations like The Ken Blanchard Companies and the American Management Association deployed virtual options to the leadership development and management curriculum in 2009. While the sales process could be challenging, the acceptance of e-learning as an option was widely accepted given the new economic realities in 2009.
