Reckitt Benckiser Relies on Scorecards to Improve Performance
Reckitt Benckiser, the market leader in household cleaning products, uses balanced scorecards for measuring and managing key performance indicators
and critical company processes at various levels of control and activity, and across a variety of markets, cultures and geographies.

Reckitt Benckiser operates in 60 countries with a workforce of 23,000 employees worldwide, generating net revenues in excess of £3 billion. The company, which owns brands such as Calgon, Dettol, Harpic, Immac, Lemsip, and Mr. Sheen in Europe, and French's Mustard, Lysol, Resolve, Wizard and Woolite in North America, was created in late 1999 out of a merger between Reckitt & Colman plc and Benckiser N.V.

A Balanced Uniform View
The Reckitt Benckiser business intelligence solution includes the ProClarity Analytics Platform, which provides the technology foundation for the custom balanced scorecard application, and Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services. The resulting system provides balanced scorecard functionality for the business around the world, implementing one version of the truth. The delivery of consistent information and views throughout the business, together with standardized reports, makes it easier to manage the business. The system also has the benefits of low total cost of ownership and a central, Web-based, global deployment.

At the strategic level, the functional architecture comprises top level balanced scorecard KPIs, such as in-market performance, key ratios, financials and special projects. The next level comprises functional scorecards for finance, category (brand indicators), supply (supply-chain indicators), human resources (manpower indicators) and sales. The third level comprises functional diagnostic drill-downs, with transactional systems, company and external databases providing the underlying information layer.

The scorecard solution allows Reckitt Benckiser to analyze captured information quickly, identify which promotions work and where benefits are derived. Equally important, Reckitt Benckiser is able to share this information with the rest of the organization.

GeoAnalyzer Uses ProClarity to Develop Geographical Information System
GeoAnalyzer® has developed a geographical information system with ProClarity technology to analyze, build and plot routes and other mapping-related tasks.

The GeoAnalyzer solution consists of two components: the INTEGRA Information System and the geographical information system (GIS). The INTEGRA® Information System is the analytic foundation with components to change cube dimensions on the fly, update data and structures, and maintain information structures over time. It also includes complete business models and templates for the consumer packaged goods, banking, retail, telecommunications and transportation industries.

The GIS includes complete demographic information for Mexico and most Latin American countries and features detailed maps of Mexico that can be used to establish tracks and waypoints. It also addresses automatic coding using a proprietary algorithm, demographic analysis, thematic plots (such as radial, polygonal, etc.), commercial analysis and multi-coverage analysis.

The INTEGRA Information System and GIS modules work together, enabling users to begin analysis using a map and then jump into the cube analysis to complete the exploration. It's also possible to begin analysis using the Decomposition Tree and move to a map covering a particular area.

GeoAnalyzer also has a PDA module that provides checklists to field people. After conducting analysis using GeoAnalyzer, users can define roadmaps and assign priorities and responsibilities. GeoAnalyzer will then send information to PDAs with specific details and consolidate the status of individual checklists into the GeoAnalyzer application for analysis with ProClarity technology.

Insider's Insight
If you ever need to access the hidden MY VIEWS library using "Manage Books" in ProClarity Professional, here's how to do it:

Open the ProClarity_PAS database in SQL server, right-click the Libraries table and return all rows
Find the record with the Caption of "FAVORITES"
Alter the GUID from {1F823801-C6F2-11d4-81F6-444553540001} to {1F823801-C6F2-11d4-81F6-444553540000} (do this by changing the "1" at the end to a different number) and the TYPE to "BRIEFINGBOOK"
Refresh the SQL databases folder, and refresh PAS with the Admin Tool. You should now see the FAVORITES library appear. (Note: Although the naming conventions differ between the database and the front-end tools, the FAVORITES library is the same thing as the MY VIEWS library.)

You can now access your end users' MY VIEWS using ProClarity Professional or the Admin Tool, make any changes and republish the views. You can insert a page that you want all your end users to have in their MY VIEWS, update connection information in the MY VIEWS section, and change the Shared Items used in those views.
