HR vs. Executives: The View from the Top is Very Different

According to a study conducted by the Aberdeen group of HR executives and corporate executives, when it comes to Talent, each views the goals and ownership very differently. Where they are at odds?

1) Who owns the talent acquisition strategy. Executives say company management (60%) before HR executives (51%). HR Executives say they do in 72% of the cases.

2) The executives do not agree on the most useful tools to use, either. HR claims auto e-mail to best fit candidate profiles and succession planning tools are the top solutions. Whereas, the corporate execs are split across all tools including social networking, career portals and applicant tracking tools.

Where they agree?
1) Both corporate and HR executives believe future workforce planning is the top pressure driving the talent acquisition strategy. Other mentions included lack of skills or qualified candidates.

2) Both also believe the measure of a successful talent strategy is in the quality of the hire. (49% HR,63% Exec)

Vacation, Vacation, Where Have You Gone

Approximately 72% of US Executives say that vacations are critical for re-energizing their focus on work, according to The Ladders.com.

Despite these benefits, only 58% report their organizations are supportive of taking time off. This is probably why 51% attest to "checking in" with work a few times while on vacation to make sure things are running smoothly.
